DADSON MASTERS SHENINGTON ROUND 5.

With the masters series visiting some of the best circuits in the UK a trip to Shenington was apt. For most dadson competitors this was a first, the weather was again changeable.

At drivers briefing Nigel Fordham was presented with his driver of the day award from the previous round at Llandow. The winner of the very popular tyre draw was Roger Brittain.

He receives a free set of Slicks.

Heat 1

A last minute decision for all drivers to go out on slicks.

From pole, Rogers took lights to flag victory followed by Brittain and Fairbrass.

Most drivers finished around were they started to within a position or 2 except Wooder who came from back of the grid to 11th.

Heat 2

Again a last minute decision was slicks but just as the green flag waved it started to rain. Not too heavily but enough to bring out the slippery surface flags.

Fordham had made up several places from 9th but got t -boned by Dickinson into Bruno chicane & went back to 7th Brittain took a spin with the conditions into Wilkins.

Series sponsors Iden signs driver Kevin Gilbert drove brilliantly to take a lights to flag victory followed by Dickinson who had come from P12 Friend took 3rd also storming through the pack from P16

Heat 3

Saw another light to flag victory this time for Otway with another 2nd for Dickinson Weatherley made up the top 3. That was the result but not without fantastic racing further back. At the start Wooders engine stuttered Francis did well to avoid a shunt Winston got collected all got back on but running last. Meanwhile Pasterfield is running 5th on the pace of Friend (who finished 4th) but only for a couple of laps & soon to get relegated to 8th fantastic racing from Fordham coming through like a steam train to 5th from 17th. Brittain took a massive lunge up the inside of Jones into the Bruno chicane & went on to finish 6th with Rogers in hot pursuit.

Final

All three poles in the heats were converted to wins. So looking at form, if you were a gambler a fair bet would be to back the pole man.

Championship leader Wooder had problems with motor(s) not revving most of the day putting him down to 16th position on the grid. Bad for Wooder but good for keeping the championship alive as now no-one is clear and soon dropped rounds will start to come into play. Many drivers and teams are looking ahead including this within their calculations.

Dickinson on Pole with Fordham along side. Row 2, Rogers & Brittain. Row 3, Friend & Kerr. Row 4, Day & Otway. Row 5, Gilbert & Fairbrass completes the top 10.

After a few laps into the Final an incident involving a Red flag forces Gilbert to retire.

With a single file re start, confusion at the start, pole man Dickinson gets tagged allowing Rogers through. Fordham maintained his 2nd place Friend 3rd Kerr 4th

Beckenham 5th Francis 6th. Driver of the day: Bryn Green.
