The Dadson Minimax Challenge
Dadson Motorsport launches a prestigious Minimax Series.
The new championship is to be known as "The Dadson Minimax Challenge"
This exciting new series of races is designed for the young aspiring driver
who wants to take it to the next level. It will create opportunities for 11-17 year olds with aspirations to graduate for National A events in 2011.
The series will be watched closely by many British teams in order to find new drivers with the ability to compete at National level 2011.
Where will you be racing in 2010?
This Dadson Minimax Challenge fills a void for the club racer that wants to race a series on different circuits but doesn’t have the full budget for a National A series like Super 1. It also gives the club racer full potential to progress using the MSA up grade system to full effect.
All rounds will be held during the host clubs normal race weekend thus keeping karting at club level. The sharing of the calendar events also gives us the opportunity to make this a friendly and financially viable series for those wishing to compete in a championship.
Based on experience gained from 8 years of running The Dadson Masters,
The Dadson Minimax Challenge offers the same design and visual profile as the Dadson masters.
The Dadson Minimax Challenge will offer participants a unique opportunity racing at some of the best circuits in the UK.
If the masters is anything to go by these drivers will soon create there own status.
Education
There is - a karting etiquette.
Learning how to manage your racing is of paramount importance.
Education is the key, we’re always looking at something to be different. So, now we have a championship for 11-17 year olds who are of course scholars, we aim to educate via our championship and as we have found running our Masters for 8 years – it’s never too late!.
Ordering tyres is preparation for National series like S1. Completing driver profile and entry forms (writing) checking out the oppositions (reading) and adding up your championship points (arithmetic) “the 3R’s”-sorted!.
Registration £70.00 *
Upon registration each participant will receive a “Race Pack” which will include all the individual entry forms for each event totalling seven.
A copy of the series regulations and tyre order forms together with driver profile forms literature and other important information are included.
We strongly advise reading the championship regulations and other documentation to familiarise yourself with the rules.
Joining the club £30.00 *
All competitors wishing to enter The Dadson Minimax Challenge need to become a member of Kent Kart Racing Club for which the annual fee of £30.00 will be charged. Membership forms are included in the race pack.
Entry £58.00 Per Round *
Our entry forms are specifically for our series only. Participants can enter each round by filling in the entry forms provided within the pack. These completed forms should then be sent to the host clubs competition secretary. Remember the host clubs are open for entries only after the closure of the preceding meeting of that club (normally 1 month before) so don’t get any ideas of sending all forms out at the beginning of the year with post dated cheques its not the way its done. Remember to include a self addressed stamped envelope if you require confirmation of entry.
Tyres
Just like looking after your tyres on the circuit you also need to manage ordering them in the correct manor. Tyre order forms are provided within the registration pack. Round by round you can order your tyres from the dedicated supplier at the recommended retail price. There are no hiked prices, there is however a cut off date two weeks before the event so don’t be late or you will face a late fee. You are not forced to buy a new set of tyres every round once you have placed your 1st order for both wets and slicks you can then order as required.
Regulations
A
kart National “B” (or higher) race licence is required. Drivers wishing to enter
the championship will be given the opportunity to obtain their National “B”
(ARKS) race licence (if they do not already hold a licence). This can be
arranged by Dadson Motorsport on a one to one basis if required at the
customer’s expense, contact us for further details.
All competitors will use the Rotax FR125 Minimax. MSA/ABKC regulations apply.
Championship
Our race series is a great inexpensive way to race and earn points at each individual round which add up to a championship total. The championship will be contested over 7 rounds commencing in March through to November at various UK circuits. The circuits we attend are of Britain’s finest. Details of the rounds are included on the registration form which is available to download from this site.
The championship allows for one (worst or not attended) round to be dropped.
We envisage an awards evening for both series the date and location of which will be announced at a later date*.
Media
The Dadson Race series is continually evolving, and this season introduces an even more exciting and challenging new format.
Race interviews with the famous grid walk will be there to spice things up this is a very important part of racing in our opinion. The grid walk will urge the drivers to talk promoting their current sponsors and showing potential sponsors how they can carry a company’s logo and promote their brand. Much of club racers sponsorship comes from family or family orientated businesses so for Dickey the Brickie or Pete the Plumber to be able to hear their protégé mentioning their business via our website and boast to their suppliers or potential customers has itself got its advantages. By filling in the driver profile form this gives us information about the driver and could be used in race reports or other media orientated situations like commentary.
Prizes
We are delighted to announce that we have backing from many prestigious karting related companies - already the prize fund is in excess of £2500.00
As members of the British Kart Industry Association Dadson Motorsport have been working very closely with manufacturers and suppliers but to now get sponsorship from the Rotax Max Engine and tyre distributor J.A.G. Engineering is fantastic.
We can now associate our series with most of the prominent karting companies in the UK today, from Dartford karting through their www.kartstore.co.uk sponsorship you can get a decent kart and parts far to numerous to mention. J.A.G. supplies the best engine and tyre option Tillett the best seats, then go race and read about it in Karting Magazine! all this surely now gives the championship the recognition it truly deserves.
Furthermore with our fantastic prize fund every competitor has the chance of winning something at every round and not just the race!. For starters each registrant will receive a boxed medal stating they have been involved in The Dadson Minimax Challenge.
Then round by round each signed on competitor will be automatically put into a draw where the winner will receive a full set of slicks to be delivered at the following round, all this courtesy of J.A.G. Engineering the Rotax FR125 Max engine and tyre importer.

14th March
The opening race of the series for both classes will be at Lydd International Raceway.
Hosted by Kent Kart Racing Club this 1140 metre circuit which is often referred to as InterLIRgos as it’s between the lakes.
4th April
Sees the Masters Series (only) visit Rissington for the 1st time
25th April
Both classes visit Ellough in the East. The winner of this race will gain valuable series points towards becoming the 2010 Champion
16th May
Both classes together again visiting Buckmore Park Kart Club near Chatham in Kent. Our hosts are no stranger to large grids and should see some great racing.
20th June
Both classes visit Llandow. Those making the trip to South Wales will have the opportunity to enjoy a full weekend of racing, with circuit testing on Saturday and the Championship races on Sunday
4th July
Both championships make the journey to Lincolnshire Visiting the prestigious P F International circuit on the same day as the top level Elite Race. Expect an exciting atmosphere.
8th August
Next together again we head West where we are guests of the famous Clay Pigeon Kart Club with its full camping facilities this will be an ideal break for the whole family.
12th September
The final race for the Minimax championship will be held back at Lydd in Kent and is sure to see high drama and close racing as competitor’s battle it out to become the National Dadson Champion.
19th September
It’s not over for the old boys though as they head to another class circuit.
Shenington in Oxford sees round 8 of the Masters series where the winner of this round will surely be a late barker.
10th October
Wigan is not only the penultimate round of the 2010 Dadson Masters. We have the unprecedented privilege to be the support race and join in with the final Max S1 where the ABKC National Rotax Max Champions will be crowned and we are invited guests of the Super 1 series.
14th November
The final race of the 2010 Dadson series returns to Lydd in Kent. Most years this championship goes down to the very last race its quite rare for our championship to be sewn up before the end. The very fact our championship goes down to the wire is evidence of the close racing in our series.
