The Dadson Masters Challenge

Dadson Motorsport is pleased to announce the launch of the 2010 Dadson Masters Challenge, the alternative to racing teenagers. This series of races is based on age NOT weight. The Dadson Masters Challenge is Britain’s premier series for the more mature racer of both sexes. Drivers range from complete beginners to former champions. Whatever you’re level of ability you will always find someone of a similar standard to race against in this series.

With big grids, a top class calendar and a large spectator following The Dadson Masters Challenge has become one of the premier club series in the UK.

We are delighted to announce that we have backing from many prestigious karting related

companies - already the prize fund is in excess of £2500.00.

We choose flowing circuits not Mickey Mouse circuits that are so narrow carnage is inevitable.

As many of our driver’s camp on site the added bonus of a BBQ & light refreshment with fellow competitors (campers) is apt, it is after all, the camaraderie that makes the Dadson Masters series.

Registration £100.00 *

Upon registration each participant will receive a “Race Pack” which will include all the individual entry forms for each event totalling ten.

A copy of the series regulations and tyre order forms together with driver profile forms literature and other important information are included.

We strongly advise reading the championship regulations and other documentation to familiarise yourself with the rules.

Joining the club £30.00 *

All competitors wishing to enter The Dadson Masters Challenge need to become a member of Kent Kart Racing Club for which the annual fee of £30.00 will be charged. Membership forms are included in the race pack.

Entry £58.00 Per Round *

Our entry forms are specifically for our series only. Participants can enter each round by filling in the entry forms provided within the pack. These completed forms should then be sent to the host clubs competition secretary. Remember the host clubs are open for entries only after the closure of the preceding meeting of that club (normally 1 month before) so don’t get any ideas of sending all forms out at the beginning of the year with post dated cheques its not the way its done. Remember to include a self addressed stamped envelope if you require confirmation of entry.

Tyres

Just like looking after your tyres on the circuit you also need to manage ordering them in the correct manor. Tyre order forms are provided within the race pack. Round by round you can order your tyres from the dedicated supplier at the recommended retail price. There are no hiked prices, there is however a cut off date two weeks before the event so don’t be late or you will face a late fee. You are not forced to buy a new set of tyres every round once you have placed your 1st order for both wets and slicks you can then order as required.

Regulations
A kart National “B” (or higher) race licence is required. Drivers wishing to enter the championship will be given the opportunity to obtain their National B (ARKS) race licence (if they do not already hold a licence). This can be arranged by Dadson Motorsport on a one to one basis if required at the customer’s expense, contact us for further details.

All competitors will use the Rotax Senior FR125 Max. MSA/ABKC regulations apply with the exception of age (you must be 35 years or older within 2010) and combined weight (170kg)

Championship

Our race series is a great inexpensive way to race and earn points at each individual round which add up to a championship total. The championship will be contested over 10 rounds commencing in March through to November at various UK circuits.  The circuits we attend are of Britain’s finest. All Details of the rounds are included on the registration form which is available to download from this site.

The championship allows for two (worst or not attended) rounds to be dropped.

We envisage an awards evening for both series the date and location of which will be announced at a later date*.

Media

The Dadson Race series is continually evolving and this season introduces an even more exciting and challenging new format.

Race interviews with the famous grid walk will be there to spice things up this is a very important part of racing in our opinion. The grid walk will urge the drivers to talk promoting their current sponsors showing potential sponsors how they can carry a company’s logo and promote their brand. Much of club racers sponsorship comes from family or family orientated businesses so for Dickey the Brickie or Pete the Plumber to be able to hear their protégé mentioning their business via our website and boast to their suppliers or potential customers has itself got its advantages. By filling in the driver profile form this gives us information about the driver and could be used in race reports or other media orientated situations like commentary.

Prizes

As members of the British Kart Industry Association Dadson Motorsport have been working very closely with manufacturers and suppliers but to now get sponsorship from the Rotax Max Engine and tyre distributor J.A.G. Engineering is fantastic.

We can now associate our series with most of the prominent karting companies in the UK today, from Dartford karting through their www.kartstore.co.uk sponsorship you can get a decent kart and parts far to numerous to mention. J.A.G. supplies the best engine and tyre option Tillett the best seats, then go race and read about it in Karting Magazine! all this surly now gives the championship the recognition it truly deserves.

Furthermore with our fantastic prize fund every competitor has the chance of winning something at every round and not just the race!. For starters each registrant will receive a boxed medal stating they have been involved in The Dadson Masters Challenge.

Then round by round each signed on competitor will be automatically put into a draw where the winner will receive a full set of slicks to be delivered at the following round, all this courtesy of J.A.G. Engineering the Rotax FR125 Max engine and tyre importer.

History

Long before 177(Heavyweight) or other Rotax veteran championships the Dadson series started back in 2002 inspired through an idea by a handful of karters from Kent kart racing club. It was then called “The Gentlemen’s Challenge”

Running a successful race series since its inauguration The Dadson Masters has gained championship status year on year. The Masters championship is based upon the original veteran’s race within the Rotax Max Festival. The Dadson Masters Challenge has always produced close racing. Testament to this, lap times are not always within the 10th nor 100th but sometimes in the 1000th we believe it’s our very own format that creates this close racing.

We now have copiers and what better praise could we honestly receive than others making a snide copy!. Of course the original is always better and the real McCoy. Competition is second nature to us however we believe it’s important not to dilute a successful class so if it ain’t broken we don’t fix it. Often we are asked by individuals outside the championship to lower the age or by heavier guys to up the combined weight limit, there is of course already a class for larger people and our series is based on age NOT weight. We are adamant this is where the success lies.

Running the masters since 2002, during that time we have consistently worked to promote the championship and our passion for close affordable racing.

The original design and format is still in use today

Some championships (and teams for that matter) consistently fail to deliver promised changes so it’s no surprise when participants feel so strongly about theses situations that they withdraw voting with there feet..
